A number of the artistic designs in this collection are among the best that decorative glass in the Jablonec area has to offer, pieces that do honour to the name of “Bohemian glass”, especially among experts. The timelessness of the range of designs is a guarantee of their unfailing popularity.
One remarkable phenomenon was the “Ingrid” collection from the Curt Schlevogt Company, which featured the creative designs of certain artists of European and world renown. Quality glass came almost exclusively from the Josef Riedel glassworks in the town now known as Desná. Indeed Riedel’s firm was the direct predecessor of our own company.
The “Desná” collection currently includes designs from the original “Ingrid” range and many others. These were either created by other local pre-war companies of interest or by a number of contemporary artists. The demand for the high quality of traditional hand work and the harmonisation of the “alchemy” of glass with contemporary production technology offer a great challenge to the modern world.
